Stanley E. Ross: 2/20/1938—2/12/2013

Stanley was born on February 20, 1938 in the Bronx, N.Y. to Abraham & Betty Rosenblum.  The family were Jewish Russian immigrants from the late 19th century.  He was raised in Englishtown, N.J.  Stanley graduated from Rutgers Preparatory School (7/7/1956).  While at RPS he lettered in soccer, baseball and basketball, winning a NJ state basketball championship playing for Richard O’Connell in 1956.  In addition, while at RPS he was student council treasurer & student council president.

He attended Rutgers University after graduation from RPS and played freshman basketball before leaving after his junior year to pursue a career in dentistry.  Stanley received his DDS from The University of Pennsylvania in 1961 at which time he entered a residency in periodontics at The University of Pennsylvania, which he completed in 1963.

Stanley’s illustrious career in periodontics included teaching positions at The University of Pennsylvania & Boston University.  His contributed chapters to textbooks, published landmark articles on periodontal surgery and pioneered a dental implant system.  These contributions led him to lecturing throughout Europe, North and South America.

Stanley spent a large part of his professional career in private practice for periodontics & implant dentistry in South Florida.  He was a devoted father to Greg & Ken, brother to Diane (Cohen) & husband to Mary.  Mary & Stanley were married January 24, 1981 in Wheeling, WVa.  Mary was by his side until his passing, when he succumbed to Alzheimer's disease in their home in Wellington, FL.  Stanley is survived by his sons Greg and Ken, his sister Diane, four grandchildren: Isabella (9), Isaac (7), Tyler (13) and Katie (10) and extended family.

Both of us are saddened by Stan's passing. He was always friendly and generous and a devoted husband to our cousin. We attended their wedding and regret that we cannot be there for the service. Rest in Peace.
