Frederick C. Heidgerd (Fritz), 62, of Boca Raton, FL passed away at home on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, surrounded by his family.

Fritz grew up in Boca Raton, FL, attending local Saint Andrew’s School followed by Salisbury School (’68) in CT where he was Valedictorian and named All New England Football. He went on to graduate from Wake Forest University (’72) where he was a Carswell Scholar, Member of Kappa Alpha Order and a Cum Laude graduate. He then attended University of Florida College of Law (’75) where he graduated on the Dean’s List.

Fritz practiced law for 37 years in South Florida. As a devoted Christian, he was active in local churches. Always engaged in his community, he was active in Kiwanis Club among other local groups. Fritz loved his family, was an avid reader and runner, and a dedicated Florida Gators and Demon Deacons sports fan.

Fritz fought a brave battle against melanoma. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sarah (Beck) Heidgerd, his three children Rebecca Jean, Rachel Jane and Christian Alexander Heidgerd, as well as his brother Dick Heidgerd.

A visitation will be held 2-6 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013 at Glick Funeral Home in Boca Raton. A celebration of Fritz’s life will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 7 at Grace Community Church, also in Boca Raton.

I had the honor, with my late and dear wife Janda, to share Sunday school times with Fritz and family for many years - and oh what a joy they were, and what a joy Fritz was, and incessantly jovial and increasingly wise. And I will always treasure our shared family and Fourth of July memories at SunniBuck Farm.

"Well done good and faithful servant, enter into your Masters Rest" are the words that Fritz heard upon his entrance into the Kingdom. Fritz was truly an example of what a Godly man epitomizes! To His Family..We know how truly painful this loss is to you all, and for that we are truly sorry .. Love to you all and our prayers will continue that God will heal your broken hearts. I am so saddened on the passing of my friend and advisor Fritz. For many years we both worked together at the Nationa Safety Council, as advisor and friend. His dedication to the safety and health to the citizens of South Florida will be remembered for many years. He was a most valuable member of the Board of Directors always directing us to one of most successful safety councils in the nation. We will all miss his energy, intellegence, and all around good person. Bless you, Fritz.

Dear Sarah and family: Thank you so much for your phone call about the untimely death of your dear husband and father. I'm still in a state of stunned disbelief. I had the privilege of working with Fritz for seven years as we served together to assist in the turnaround of a church that had lost its soul. His insight and energy always was a welcomed assist. Please know that our hearts go out to each of you. When answers aren't enough, Jesus is! Please rest in His love and care. Fritz's legacy as a man of God, a trusted friend, a brilliant legal mind and a great husband and father will continue to live on! Our love and prayers are extended to you. John & Sandy Strubhar

Fritz was loved by many but most of all his wife, I believe
Fritz would want his dedicated wife to be mentioned. She has taken almost total care of Fritz for many painful months and has hardly left his side. She displayed God's love for her husband and is an example to us all of unselfish and unconditional love. Lana Armstrong

To Sarah, Rebecca, Rachel and Christian.
Our sincerest and heartfelt sympathies at this sad time. You all were Fritz's pride and joy.
Fritz was a true Christian gentleman and we have so many fond memories of being in his company when we visited Florida and also on your trips to Ireland.
We were honoured to have him as our groomsman on our wedding day in Donegal July 1991 . Like all Fritz's roles he carried out his duties on the day to perfection and delighted everyone with his witty good humour.
It was an honour to know Fritz ,our love, our thoughts and our prayers are with all of you now and in the difficult days ahead. May God bless you all.

Although we left South Florida in the late 80's, we have always remembered Fritz fondly. He was a man of God who finished well, faithful to his Lord and to his family to the end. We know that he is hearing the words "Well done though good and faithful servant" as he finds rest at last. Sarah, Rebeccah, Rachel and Christian, may God comfort you and give you peace.

Dear Sarah and family,
We grieve with you in your great loss of a loving father and adoring husband. We have watched you suffer this year as you all lovingly walked this painful journey with Fritz. Sarah, no wife has loved her husband more or cared for him more tenderly than you have. You are an example of a servant spirit and Godly spouse. We also celebrate a man that lived by example a Christian, in all areas life! How blessed you are to have had Fritz in your lives till adulthood. How very kind and gracious of God! We fondly remember our sweet dinner with you last March . Sarah, you were baking and making Fritz's favorite foods and bringing him much joy and delight. He smiled the entire evening and kissed you a dozen times! He cherished his family, enjoyed life, and loved God. He also loved to laugh. Fritz was a blessed man to have you as his wife these many wonderful years. May the Lord comfort you all and may you have praise in your hearts to God for the great man and gentle soul that graced your home and lives these many years. ALL IS GRACE!
