Robert Bruce Zann

Dr. Robert Bruce Zann passed away on October 8, 2016.  He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; his two sons, Christopher (Holly) and Lawren (Jereann); two grandchildren, Sophia and Dominic; brother, Geoffrey (Emily); aunt, Gilda (Frank); nieces; nephews; cousins; friends; and thousands of patients whose lives he touched. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mildred and Gregory Zann; his sister Donna Collingwood and his brother Gregory Zann II.

Dr. Zann was a varsity swimmer at the University of Michigan from 1968 – 1971 and graduated from Wayne State Medical School in 1975.  Dr. Zann completed his general residency training at New York Medical College in 1977, his orthopaedic residency training at New York Medical College in 1980, and his orthopaedic surgery fellowship training at the University of Southern California in 1981.  When he wasn’t practicing the art of surgery he had mastered throughout his career or teaching fellow colleagues throughout the world about the skills he had developed, he was a bedtime sheet tucker, a driveway hoops shooter, a backyard ball tosser, a math homework problem solver, a Florida Keys island hopper, a Rocky Mountain black diamond thrasher, an amateur squash player, an avid fish catcher, a passport stamp collector, a wine taste tester, a party-hosting excuse finder, and an all-around fun lover.  And while he is gone, he is not forgotten, and will forever be a Michigan Wolverine.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 16, 2016, from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. and Monday, October 17, 2016, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Glick Funeral Home, 3600 N. Federal Highway, Boca Raton, Florida 33431, (561) 672-1880. The memorial ceremony will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Spanish River Christian Church, 2400 Yamato Road, Boca Raton, Florida, 33431. All are welcome.
