To Michael and his wonderful family, I was heart broken to find that Mike had left this world after his life long struggle. I had known Mike and Steve since Boca Raton High School back in 1976. I first met Mike on the school bus. He sat in the front with the 'Sports Jocks' and I sat with my group in the back of the bus (the bad kids!). Little did I know that he would become a life long friend. My heart goes with his entire family and I will miss his funny, optimistic soul.... Laura

My heart breaks with the news of Mike's passing. I have fond memories in the short time I knew Mike, like when he stepped up to the plate for mine and Stan's wedding when one of our groomsmen had a family tragedy that occurred the day before our wedding. He was fitted for a tuxedo that day and we sure had fun. I remember Mike always with a big smile. Although I haven't seen him in a while, I'll miss him. God bless you Amy....you have a heart of gold!! Best of luck to Mikey at UM...we'll be watching for you on TV. Big Hugs!!!!!

Amy, Mikey and Helen,
My heart goes out to you during this most difficult time. Mike was a special friend. I will always cherish our time together whether it be playing High School or American Legion baseball, working at Boogaarts grocery store as bag boys and stock clerks or hanging out and going to stock car and drag racing in Hollywood, FL. We were like brothers. As we grew older and started our own families, my job took me to North Carolina where I now reside in Cary. I don't have Facebook but Mike found my wife Patti and we stayed in touch through chats. As teenagers I remember Mike having to give himself insulin shots in his thigh and then off we would go to have a good time. We were invisible in those days and it never occurred to me at that time what Mike was going through on a daily basis and that his life would be cut so short because of Diabetes. He never once complained and loved to have a great time. My heart aches as I feel like I have lost a brother. I do wish that I could be there for you and to share in your sorrow. Mikey, I am a huge Canes fans and will be pulling for you as you start your college baseball career at UM. Your dad was so proud of you and he made sure to send me the youtube video of you hitting a homerun at Wrigley Field. I told your dad that you have something special and one thing you have that your dad did not have is power. Amy and Helen, if there is anything that I can do, please don't hesitate to let me know.
