My deepest condolences to all of the family of Joesph Matuella.  He was a great husband, father, brother, friend and to me, uncle.  He will truly be missed!

I just wanted to share some of my fondest memories of him with everyone.  I will always remember the fun times we had together.  When I was young, I remember going to Florida on vacation to visit Uncle Joe & Aunt Peggy.  We went to Disney World, the beach, Pete Rose's Café, and many other places. Uncle Joe always knew how to make these trips something we would never forget.  I wasn't one of his children, but he always treated me as such.

I will always remember the conversations he and I had as I got older involving my job.  I, like my Uncle Joe, got into the hospitality industry.  I always looked up to him because of all his success.  When we talked, he listened and offered advice to help me succeed in running my restaurant.  I have tried to pattern myself after him by working hard and earning the respect of my employees, just like he did.  He has always been such a role model for me.

One of the best memories I have with Uncle Joe, involves my wedding almost three years ago.  It was such an honor having he & Aunt Peggy there.  I didn't have much family able to make it due to how far away it was, yet he made the long drive from Florida to Kentucky to be there to support and celebrate with my wife, April, and I.  It meant more to me than he probably ever really knew!

I will always remember that smile he had on his face.  Uncle Joe had a smile that lit up the room.  Not to mention, that smile has found its way into many a photograph on multiple occasions.  The man was the most photogenic person I ever knew.  Each photograph, the same smile.  The man was an artist.  He smiled perfectly each time, every time!

There are so many other memories or talks that I could share.  Our talks about the Dolphins, Florida St, work, or just being together.  I will remember all of them.  I will miss my uncle so very much.  I know that I am a better man for having had Uncle Joe be a part of my life.  I pray that God knows what a loving and wonderful man he has with him now.  As I continue my own life, I will always try to live up to the example Uncle Joe set.  He will always be my Uncle, my friend, and role model.  I love you always and may God bless you and keep you.  May you have the peace you so rightly deserve!

Your nephew,
Charles
