John Eugene Muratore passed away peacefully at his home in Boca Raton, Florida on Sunday-September 18, 2016. He was 94 years old the son of Fred Muratore and Raphella (Galli) Muratore. Born of humble means in a house in Bristol, Rhode Island, John grew up in Cranston, Rhode Island and graduated from Cranston High School in 1939 with honors. He was a member of the Rhode Island Honor Society. He loved sports and was either playing them or watching them. He was on the Cranston wrestling team. He attended Bryant College of Business Administration before enlisting in the Navy serving as an Aviation Machinist's Mate Second Class from October 1942 until his Honorable Discharge in November 1945. He was stationed on Ulithi Atol in the western Pacific during WWII.

John met and married his loving wife, Ann, while stationed in Columbus, Ohio before shipping out to the Pacific Theater. After the war, John & Ann moved to his home state of Rhode Island where he began working for his father & uncle at The Arlington Tile Company as a tile setter. They lived on the third floor of a tenement in Cranston. Eventually, John moved up to sales-manager and later co-owned Arlington Tile Company and G&M Company-RI Tile Distributors.

Among the many sports John loved, golf became his passion. He was an active member of The Alpine Country Club in Cranston, Rhode Island for 26 years and served as its Vice President. When he moved full-time to Florida in 1986, he was an active member of the Boca Teeca Country Club in Boca Raton, Florida which became Ocean Breeze Country Club under his Presidency.

John was a lifelong member of The American Legion.

Among other things John enjoyed, was serving as board member of The Royal Ridge Condo Association when living in Cranston, Rhode Island. And, when living in Boca Raton, Florida, he again enjoyed & served as both board member and president of the Boca Teeca Condo#8 Association.  

John leaves his wife, Ann (Weller) Muratore; a daughter, Kathleen (Muratore) Pitcher Kindstedt & her husband, Stephen Kindstedt; a daughter predeceased him, Jean (Muratore) George Collins; a daughter, Jane (Muratore) Santamaria; a grandson, John Pitcher; a grandson & his wife, Jeremy & Lisa George plus a great-granddaughter, Madison George; a grandson, David Santamaria; a granddaughter, Kaylyn Santamaria & a great-grandson, Anthony Santamaria; a step-granddaughter, Gretchen Kindstedt; and a step-granddaughter & her husband, Dana (Kindstedt) & Justin Munroe & a step-great-granddaughter, Elanore Munroe. He also leaves one sibling, his close sister and her husband Elaine & Al Petrarca.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date at the Glick Family Funeral Home in Boca Raton and will be updated on the website as soon as it is available.
