Joan Elena Solomon

SOLOMON, Joan (Judy) E. Age 72, passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2016.

Judy was born in Asheville, NC, on August 16, 1943, to Elizabeth and Robert Keeler. She was the loving wife of Saul; the wonderful mother to Robert and Elizabeth (Craig), step-mother to Sherry (Joe) and Michael. Proud grandmother to Alexander, Zoie, Christopher, Zeke and Emilio.  Loving cousin to many family members whom she loved very much. 

Over those years, she was devoted to her family, her friends, and to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church of Dayton, Ohio and St. Mark’s Greek Orthodox Church of Boca Raton, Florida.  She served as President of the local Philoptochos Society, founding the Community Care Ministry outreach program, which was adopted by the National Philoptochos Society and member of The Daughters of Penelope. 

For many years, Judy operated a high fashion boutique in Dayton, Ohio.  After moving to Deerfield Beach, Florida, she served as the Director of Special Events for the Deerfield Beach Chamber of Commerce.  Her ever-present positive attitude and her infectious enthusiasm were noted by all. Judy loved life and brought joy to everyone she met. She was the "life of the party" and will be missed dearly. 

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, February 1, 2016 at St. Mark’s Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 2100 Yamato Rd., Boca Raton, Florida 33431. Burial will be held at Riverside Cemetery, Asheville, North Carolina. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Mark’s Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church.
