Welcome to the memorial page for

Helen Puskar Walker

April 7, 1927 ~ April 13, 2016 (age 89) 89 Years Old

Helen P. Walker of Delray Beach, Florida left us April 13, 2016 with her beloved daughter at her side.  A week after her 89th birthday, in Helen's signature style, she peacefully took her last breath with grace, poise and elegance.  The name Helen means light.  Helen's ambient radiance will be deeply missed by the many who no longer can bask in her glow.   We can hope her light will shine down on us from the stars.

We suspect she is happily dancing with the love of her life and late John Walker, in heaven.  Each night of the Walker's marriage, Helen and John enjoyed a twirl around the kitchen.  She's been patiently waiting to reunite with John for infinite dances.

Helen lived an incredible and charmed life, but not without struggle.  Vivacious, dynamic, witty, beautiful and charming she spent her whole life at the service of her family, community and the world.   She was a wonderful mother, a spectacular wife and a treasured friend.  She was well traveled and reveled in life's joys especially the arts; music, dance, food and wine.  She had a wickedly good sense of humor and she enjoyed and encouraged a healthy dose of mischief.  She loved nature and animals, having a slew of dogs and horses.  Helen named her family winery and vineyards, in Prosser Washington for the small native sparrow hawk, the Kestrel.

Helen was born on April 7th, 1927 to George and Anne Puskar in Binghamton, New York.  She lived in Delray beach Florida for the last fifty years.  A special place, where she and John Walker developed Lakeview and Lakeview Golf course.  She was a devoted member and the president of the Boca Delray Music Society.  She is survived by her sister Anna Lucas in Binghamton New York, her daughter and best friend Cynthia Walker Crowley owner of Kestrel Vintners and Frank Snupik of BInghamton, New York who is the owner of the Walker Preserve.

In the final years of Helen's life and through challenging health, Karen Loyola and Patrice Greenwood were steadfast and devoted to her with love and caring throughout her long illness. Martino Trost, General Manager of the Walker winery and vineyard, took care of many burdens and sent her pictures every day when he could not be in Florida.  She thought of him as a son.

Helen Walker did not like people fawning over her.  Her modesty was part of her many charms.  However, she was admired by so many, that not making a fuss was a challenge.   There will be no public service, by her request.  In lieu of flowers please enjoy your best glass of wine and a toast to love, life and Helen Walker.
