Welcome to the memorial page for

Drake Soliman Dias

December 31, 1984 ~ May 6, 2016 (age 31) 31 Years Old

How do you memorialize someone larger than life? Beloved son, brother, grandson, significant other, nephew, and cousin, Drake Dias died on Friday, May 6th, 2016.

Drake was a local boy, born and raised in Boca Raton, Florida but local he did not stay. He started spending his summers in Germany when he was in pre-school and went on to spend part of his life in Denmark where he worked with dear family friends. He learned Danish and it became his second home. Later, he would work with the same family friends in the Austrian Alps, spending his winters snowboarding and doing what he loved most.

Drake had an entrepreneurial spirit and was gifted in business. He bought his first home while still in school, and graduated with two degrees from Florida Atlantic University eventually owning more real estate which he was quite proud of.

We’re not quite sure why, but a decade ago, he decided that he wanted to learn French and within days, he was enrolled at the Sorbonne in Paris, moving there without any accommodation, which his brother Derek helped him set up through a friend. Yes, that was Drake’s spirit – always searching for the next great adventure in his life. He traveled to 40 countries and half of the states in the US, with countless tales of his travels. In that sense, he inspired everyone who met him in life.

He will be remembered for his kind heart, sense of adventure, entrepreneurial spirit, and zeal for life. While his core group of friends remained in South Florida, he made hundreds through his years all around the country and world.

A memorial service will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church and School on Wednesday, May 11th, 2016 at 4:00 pm.
