To all the Rogers Family

Dear Friends,
It is with sadness I read of the death of your dear husband, father, and grandfather in the NYT Boston edition. I was here on Cape Cod where I rarely read the obits in the NYT, but I recognized the wonderful photograph of Bernie. Bob was in NY and hadn't read his paper yet. He was happy I alerted him. We both sent you all our sincere condolences. We always enjoyed meeting Bernie whether on the tennis courts or on the street. Where ever he was he radiated good cheer with a happy smile and sparkling eyes. The last time I saw him he was on his walker in front of your house with his charming aide, slowly shuffling along but happy to talk to me. He is fondly remembered and will be greatly missed.

With sorrow, we just learned of Bern's passing. His dedication to family, faith and work, flavored by an always at hand sense of humor made him a great colleague and friend. His legacy will endure

Reading Bern's wonderful obituary gives new meaning to the film's name, "It's a Wonderful Life." Bern's certainly was!
Art especially enjoyed visiting and kidding with Bern in Florida. Many good times to remember!

Dear Aunt Margie, Michael, Eileen. Beth and Julie,
I read Uncle Bernie's obituary in today's New York Times. I did know Uncle Bernie was suffering from Parkinson"s and I am sure there is a certain relief knowing his suffering is over. I hope the end was peaceful and you are all getting some rest.
As I was reading the paper toay I was startled to see his handsome picture but that is how I remember him and I have many wonderful memories of his kielbasa, ukulele and holidays at your home. I remember him picking out a Christmas present for me and I remember driving in the car with him and his excitedly talking about Beth's swimming. He had an enthusiasm about his children and life that is a pleasure to remember.
Please let me know when there is a service in New York, Bill and I would be honored to attend.
Love to all of you,
Patricia

Please accept my sincerest condolences as you endure this troubling time in your lives. When my dad died I found comfort in what I read in the book of Revelation about how sickness and death will be done away with. What encouraging words for all of us at Revelation 21:3+4.
