Ellen Patricia Mills

Ellen Patricia Mills of Boca Raton, FL, passed away Thursday morning, January 12, after a battle with cancer. Ellen, who was born in the Bronx and grew up in Queens, NY, is the daughter of Harry F. and Archangelina (Lillian) D. Egan, both from New York City. Ellen attended St. Jean Baptiste High School in Manhattan and St. Joseph’s College in Brooklyn, where she studied liberal arts.

She was a 4th grade teacher at a Roman Catholic primary school in Queens in her early career. She married Arthur Mills in 1974 in Forest Hills, NY. She moved to Westport, CT, and began working in the import business. Ellen and Arthur also lived in Nashville, TN, for several years in the 70s and 80s.

Since 1988, she made her home with her husband and family in Boca Raton, with a brief stint back in Nashville.

She launched her career in publishing, creating the brands Markings, Quillmark, Artworks, and Artell, and functioning as creative director in partnership with her husband for many years.

Ellen touched everyone she knew in a special and unique way. She was warm and genuine and had a way of putting people at ease. She was a role model of elegance, grace, and good humor. She was always full of joy, love, and hope. She had an impact on so many people in her life, which was unfortunately cut short. She had a great love that she expressed freely and often for her family and friends and those around her.

All the saints in heaven will look fondly upon Ellen for her spirituality, kindness, and generosity and her compassion for all souls.

Ellen leaves behind a family who loved her very deeply. She is survived by her husband, Arthur; her brother, Richard Egan, and his wife, Lorraine, of Boca Raton; her son, Christian Mills, of Deerfield Beach, FL; her stepchildren, Randy (Vernon, NJ), Gregory (Oak Ridge, NJ), and Jeffrey (Clermont, FL) Mills; her nieces and nephews, including Lauren Pineyro and her husband, Robert (Las Vegas, NV), Richard (Ricky) Egan and his wife, Stacey (Boynton Beach, FL), and Michael Egan (Boca Raton). Her family and friends were by her side throughout her illness and greatly mourn her loss. Ellen’s family will forever remember the outpouring of love and support given to them during her illness. We thank you for the kindness bestowed upon us.

A memorial service for Ellen will be held at Glick Family Funeral Home, 3600 North Federal Highway, Boca Raton, FL 33431 on Saturday, January 14. A gathering for family and friends will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 pm, with a memorial service beginning at 5:30 pm.
