Joanne K (King) Meliski

Memories are treasures that time cannot destroy.

They are the happy pathway to yesterdays bright joy.

Joanne K. Meliski, 84, of Boca Raton passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 17, 2015 at Boca Raton Regional Hospital.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband Joseph J. Meliski, her loving son Robert John Helle and her sister Barbara Murphy. She is survived by her loving children David James Helle of Staffordsville, Kentucky, Carol Helle Lang of Boca Raton, Florida, Elizabeth Pierce (Bo) of Georgia, Joseph Henry Meliski (Buck) of Chimney Rock, North Carolina, Marcia Stokes of Georgia, and her beloved sister Carol Vargas of Pennsylvania. She was the treasured grandmother of nine grandchildren and great-grandmother to seven great-grandchildren.

Joanne graduated from Kenmore High School in 1984. She was a stay at home mother and helped her husband at the family gift shops in Cherokee and Chimney Rock in North Carolina.

Joanne was a great wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to everyone who knew her. She always had a smile and stories to tell. Lunch and movie dates with friends were always on her calendar. Joanne enjoyed her watercolor painting, swimming, gardening and shopping for bargains. In the summers, she would spend her time at the lake house in Lake Lure, North Carolina. In North Carolina, she loved to play tennis in Hendersonville and spend time at the boathouse. Joanne enjoyed traveling and always had plans to visit new places or revisit places she has been before with people she loved.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Friends of the Bridge at P.O. Box 125, Lake Lure, NC 28746. The Lake Lure Flowering Bridge was one of Joanne’s favorite places to visit in Lake Lure. www.lakelurefloweringbridge.org
