YVONNE CALUWAERTS VEREECKEN
May 17, 1923 – August 9, 2024
Yvonne Vereecken (101) of Lantana, Florida, passed away on August 9, 2024, at The Carlisle of Palm Beach, Florida. Yvonne was born in Bornem, Belgium, May 17, 1923, daughter of Achiel and Clemence (Lemmens) Caluwaerts. A longtime resident of Coronado, California, Yvonne lived her last years in Lantana, Florida. She married Marcel Vereecken, on November 13, 1946 and lived in Antwerp, Belgium until 1954 when she and Marcel moved to Chicago, Illinois. In 1962, Yvonne and Marcel decided to move further west and settled in the San Diego area where they founded and operated a sweeping business. Marcel passed away in 1983 at the age of 64 and Yvonne continued to operate the business for many years. Yvonne loved traveling and was proud of the fact that she took 21 world tours and visited countries all over the world.
She was preceded in death by her husband Marcel, sister Maria Caluwaerts, brother Jules (Joke’) Caluwaerts, and sister Paula Caluwaerts Hallez. Yvonne is the loving aunt of Harry Hallez, Mary Hallez (John) Tebes, Emile (Cheryl) Hallez, Denise (Len) Anderson, John (Jan) Hallez, the late Yolande Hallez, Josef (Annemie) Caluwaerts, Cristianne (Paul) Becaart, and Annie (Luc) Vanstappen. She is the great aunt to many nieces and nephews. We all will miss her dearly.
