William "Bill" Robert Kern, aged 78, of Pompano Beach, FL, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2024. Bill, a well-respected baseball coach, firefighter, and respected leader, who was known for his strength and profound faith in the Lord.
Bill dedicated his professional life to public service, serving in the Delray Beach Fire Department from 1978 to 1980 and the Pompano Beach Fire Department from March 4, 1980, until his retirement on March 31, 2005. In conjunction with his time as a fire fighter, he also worked as a general contractor. His commitment extended beyond his career as he was also a proud member of the National Guard, where he exemplified dedication and service.
Beyond his professional careers, Bill was a passionate youth baseball coach where he played an integral part in establishing the youth travel baseball program across the state of Florida and beyond. His memories will forever live on with his former players, where their growth from boys to men expands past the ballfield. Bill was also avid golfer, softball player and all things active. He found peace and joy at the beach and cherished his time in the Tennessee mountains with his family.
Bill's legacy is carried on by his sons, William Robert Kern Jr. "Billy" (Jennifer Andrzejewski) and Daniel Michael Kern "Danny" (Kassidy Kern), along with his grandchildren, Dylan, Kaylee, Brooklyn, and Brody. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lena Kern; his beloved wife, Cindy Kern; his sister, Charlotte Campanello; his brother-in-law, Fred Campanello; his father-in-law, Charles Youngman; and his nephew, Cody Zuccari.
A ceremony to celebrate Bill's life will be held at Boca Falls Clubhouse, 21700 Boca Falls Drive, Boca Raton, FL 33428, on Sunday, September 22, 2024, from 2pm to 5pm, with the ceremony commencing at 3pm.
