William Johnson Jones, DDS
January 19,1941- April 18, 2026
Will Jones, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at the age of 85.
Born in Baton Rouge, LA on January 19, 1941, Will was raised with his younger sister in what is referred to widely amongst the family as “the house on Jahncke Avenue” in Covington, LA. He grew up playing football and basketball and was considered in high school to be “just so darned handsome”. Will graduated from Covington High School (1959) and earned his BA in Chemistry from Louisiana State University (1963) before completing his Doctor of Dental Surgery from Loyola University School of Dentistry in New Orleans (1967). While at Loyola, he was inducted as a member of the C. Victor Vignes Odontological Society, the Blue Key National Honor Society, and was a recipient of a National Institute of Health research grant in the field of periodontology. He served as an officer, Lieutenant JG, in the US Naval Reserves. Following two years of active duty at the Naval Air Station in Key West, Forida, Will relocated to Boca Raton, Florida to build his dental practice. Though he moved away from Louisiana, he never left behind his love of Tiger sports. In fact, Will’s devotion to LSU was so deep that he would often say he considered it a privilege to have slept in the dormitory under Tiger Stadium during college.
Will made a life and family in Boca Raton and retired in 2017 after 50 years of dental practice. He was adored by his patients and staff and treated them all as he would his family. He was known to have given free care to patients in need, delivered dental work to an elderly patient in a nursing home and hosted a patient who served in both WWII and Korea on a Veterans Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. Will loved playing golf and skiing with his buddies, taking yearly ski trips to Colorado. He was a great dancer, would always tell a good joke, and had a way of making people feel special. The center of his life and happiness was with Maureen, his devoted wife, who was by his side having fun, working, and enjoying life together for 30 years.
Will is preceded in death by his parents, Frank Wiley and Mary Louise Babington Jones. He is survived by his wife, Maureen Woodlock Jones of Boca Raton, Florida; his daughter, Dr. Karen E. Jones and her husband Dr. Sean Campbell of Boca Raton, Florida; his son, Frank W. Jones II and his wife Rose Jones of Pompano Beach, Florida; his daughter, Haley Jones Ghalam of Ocoee, Florida; his son, Dr. Alexander C. Jones and his wife Dr. Ashlynn Jones of Jensen Beach, Florida; step-son, Todd Carlino of Coral Springs, Florida; step-son, Erick Carlino of Boynton Beach, Florida; three grandchildren- Katherine Campbell and her husband Dr. Guy Walker, Dr. Candace Keesey and her husband Ben Keesey, and Brinley Gahlam; two great-grandchildren- Jude and Felix Campbell-Walker; sister, Mary Louise Prudhomme; nephews, Rene´ Prudhomme and Thomas Roy; nieces, Jeanne Prudhomme Coco, Gabrielle Roy, and Alexandra Roy; Brothers-in-law, John Woodlock, Richard Woodlock, and James Woodlock; sister-in-law, Laurie Woodlock; and a host of cousins, relatives, and dear friends who adored him.
