William Johnson Obituary

William "Bill" Johnson

William Brooks Johnson, 62, beloved husband of Suzette, fell asleep in the Lord January 17, 2024 in Delray Beach, FL.   Born in Rochester, MN to Harold (Hal) and Doris (Dori) Clyde Johnson on April 25, 1961.

Survived by his wife of 22 years, Suzette (Pavel) Johnson, sister Doreen Johnson of Gardiner, MT, and brothers Ted (Bonnie) Johnson of Williamsburg, VA, David (Michelle) Johnson of Bellevue, IA, and Robert (Colleen) Johnson of Lake City, MN, mother-in-law Florence Pavel and sister-in-law Rhonda Bryant. He was predeceased in death by his parents, brother, Lee Johnson, father-in-law, George Pavel, and brother-in-law, Daniel Pavel.

After high school, Bill enlisted in the U.S. Army, stationed stateside at Fort Stewart, GA, then sent overseas to Wurzburg, Germany. Post discharge, Bill settled in South Florida, first in Boca Raton and then relocated to Delray Beach. He began working for Florida Power and Light in Warehouse Distribution, where he was also responsible for inventory. Bill recently retired after decades with the electric company. Bill was musically talented and interviewed with an ensemble of musicians looking for a drummer. They hired him and even named the band after him - "Wild Bill and the Thrill".  He also played drums on the weekends with his good friend who owns two local ice cream shops. Locals and tourists enjoyed both the ice cream and the music. Bill was a devout Orthodox Christian, having been Chrismated into the faith on Eastern Orthodox Palm Sunday, 2005, in the presence of 500 parishioners. He was proud to have been given the name Basil. May his memory be eternal and may he rest with our Risen Lord!
