Walter Kreidell Obituary

Walter “Bubby” Kreidell, 74, of Delray Beach, Florida, passed away on June 8, 2026.

Walter, lovingly known as Bubby to his family and friends, was born on July 3, 1951, in the Bronx, New York, to Walter W. Kreidell and Doreen Kreidell. From an early age, Bubby had a way of making people feel welcome, protected, and deeply loved. He brought people together, made them laugh, and stood fiercely by the people he cared about. There was nothing he would not do for his family and friends.

Walter built a life rooted in service, strength, and protection. He proudly served with the NYPD for 20 years, starting his career in the 75th Precinct in East New York and rising to the rank of Detective. He was respected by all those who worked alongside him. Whether he was wearing a badge, helping safeguard other officers, or watching over the people he loved, Walter made others feel safe.

After retiring from the NYPD, Walter continued that calling by building a career in the bullet-resistant vest industry, helping protect the men and women of law enforcement who continued to serve.

Beyond his professional life, Bubby found his greatest joy in the people and moments that mattered most. He loved cooking his favorite meals for family and friends, cheering on the Yankees, traveling, and making memories with his wife, Mary, the love of his life. Bubby filled a room before he ever said a word. His humor, loyalty, and larger-than-life presence made ordinary moments feel unforgettable. To be loved by Bubby was to know, without question, that you had someone in your corner.

Above all, Bubby was proudest of his family. He loved being a husband and father, and he showed that love in the way he was always present, always protective, and always ready with humor, strength, and unwavering support. He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Kreidell; his son, K.C., and his longtime love, Rachael, and children Jaydon, Nylah, and Avery; his daughter, Kara, and her husband, Kevin; his siblings, Kathy Sweeney, Mark Kreidell and wife Cindi, Kenny Kreidell and wife Denise, Doreen Hansen and husband Jimmy, and Margie Kreidell; his sisters-in-law, Liz Featherston and husband Keith, Kathy Schuler and longtime love Al, and Trisha Reedy; his brother-in-law, Jerry Maresca; and an abundance of nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

Bubby was preceded in death by his parents; his sister-in-law, Peggy; and his brothers-in-law, John Sweeney and Mike Coniglio.

Bubby’s life was defined by loyalty, love, and devotion. He protected people as a career, but more importantly, he protected the people he loved every day—with humor, generosity, courage, and a heart that made everyone around him feel safer, stronger, and more seen. His presence will be deeply missed, but the love he gave and the memories he created will remain with his family and friends always.
