The family of Thespina S. Gilbert announces with a heavy heart and deep sorrow her falling asleep in the Lord on July 16. 2021. At the age of 93, she passed away quietly surrounded by family in Boca Raton, Florida.
Born and raised in Bethlehem, PA where she retired as an educator in the Bethlehem Area school district. Mrs. Gilbert fondly know as Tes, was loved and respected by fellow educators and students alike. She was a graduate of Ryder College ('48) and Lehigh University ('52) attaining a Master's degree.
Tes was preceded in death by her parents, sister Rosemary Phillips, husbands James Stelyn and Vincent Gilbert and son Rev Fr Matthew Gilbert. Her love for God through Christ was evident to all who knew her. A member of St Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, she brought many to the faith and enriched others through her boundless love and generosity. It was the love and dedication of her son William who made the last three years of her life most memorable by nursing her health, visiting family, celebrating holidays away and nightly dinner dates. We will miss our mom and Yiayia who never forgot us or missed an opportunity to remember those she loved by sending notes and greeting cards for every birthday, holiday, feast and anniversary. We will miss getting her loving notes.
She is survived by her sons John and William, daughter Judy, brother John, grandchildren, great grandchildren nephews, nieces, and godson.
On July 20 between the hours of 5-7PM there will be visitation at the Glick Family Funeral Home, 3600 N. Federal Hwy, Boca Raton, FL.
Visitation and funeral service will be held on July 24 starting at 9AM at St Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 1607 W Union Blvd, Bethlehem, PA with eternal internment at Cedar Hill Memorial Park, 1740 Airport Rd, Allentown, PA.
