Following a brief illness, Theodore "Ted" Mierzwa (98) entered into the Kingdom of Heaven, on June 28, having passed away at Trustbridge Hospice Care Center, in Boca Raton, cradled in the love of his family.
Ted is survived by his daughter, Louise (Matthew) Ostrem, Boca Raton, and his granddaughter, Kate Ostrem, Boca Raton, along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Mildred (Ziegler) Mierzwa, his parents, Karol and Aniela (Heleniak) Mierzwa, and three siblings.
Ted was born in Union City, NJ, on March 23, 1920. He honorably served in the United States Army, during World War II, in the 32nd Armoured Regiment. Before his retirement, Ted was a member of Boilermakers Local #28, Bayonne, NJ.
During his lifetime, Ted lived his early years in Secaucus, NJ, then, forty years in Highlands, NJ. In 1998, he moved to Boca Raton, FL. Ted was well-loved by his family and friends. He was a kind, gentle man, who worked hard and enjoyed spending time with his family, including the family dogs, who were always happy to be with him.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm on Tuesday, July 3rd at the Glick Family Funeral Home where a Funeral Service with Military Honors will begin at 1:00 pm. Entombment will follow at the Boca Raton Mausoleum.
