Thelma Mae (Beatty) Hartman, 87 of Boca Raton, Florida, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2021. Thelma was born in Albany, Ohio on July 20, 1934. She was the daughter of the late Watson and Elsie McClain Beatty.
A graduate of Albany High School, Thelma relocated to Columbus, Ohio, where she worked at Jeffrey Manufacturing in Columbus. She married Robert Junior Hartman, also a graduate of Albany High School, in 1958. After the birth of their daughter Susan, Thelma and Robert relocated to Pickerington, Ohio in 1964, where they lived for 40 years until relocating to Boca Raton. Although Thelma did not return to the workforce after the birth of their daughter, she and Robert jointly owned and managed a number of rental housing units in and around central Ohio. In her free time, Thelma enjoyed traveling with her family and spending time with her daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren. She particularly enjoyed family trips to Washington D.C. and Orlando, FL as well visits with her family at the annual Beatty family reunions.
Thelma is survived by her only daughter Susan, son-in-law Gary Barton and three grandchildren Connor, Christine and Cameron Barton of Boca Raton, Florida, and one sister Ethel (Jay) Dowell of Tennessee; also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Robert Junior Hartman who passed away on November 14, 2019; five sisters Edna Coen, Grace Gibson, Eula Klinger, Mary Napper, and Mable Stout; three brothers, Harold “Bub”, Robert “Bob”, and Cedric “Ralph” Beatty.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 3-4 Pm on Sunday, March 6 at Glick Family Funeral Home in Boca Raton where a Celebration of his life will be celebrated at 4:00 PM.
