Susan Louise Scotto
Lover of life and many, Susan passed away on April 26, 2026. She left peacefully, surrounded by friends and family, at her home on the beach in Boca Raton, Florida, after a brave and tenacious battle with pancreatic cancer.
Susan is a fiercely loyal, loving, and affectionate partner, wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. People all over the world have had the tremendous fortune to have experienced her spark, her joy, and her love.
Those who have been lucky to experience Susan know her as a passionate advocate for her friends and family, a lover of the natural world in all of its remarkable manifestions. We will remember her for her infectious laughter, her delight in appreciating music, the arts, and culinary delights, her curiosity in traveling the world, and her generosity in all that she had to offer.
Born in Queens, New York, Susan earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Environmental Studies from the University of Rhode Island. From there, she went on to become the first female Master’s of Marine Policy graduate of the University of Delaware College of Marine Studies, where she excelled at marine resource management policy and law.
A long and rewarding career at the State of Maryland Department of the Environment followed, where Susan crafted and implemented policies to improve the quality of life of people and the environment throughout the mid-Atlantic area.
Susan lived and raised her family in the Baltimore-Annapolis area for more than 30 years, where she was an ardent supporter of the Orioles and Ravens. The Chesapeake Bay was a sacred place for Susan. Later, she loved retirement living by the ocean in the Cayman Islands and in Boca Raton.
Susan’s grace and beauty touched lives wherever she went. Truly, the world is a better place because of her.
Susan is survived by her loving husband, Chris Dyckman, her terrific son Adam, her wonderful daughter, Sarah and her exceptional spouse, Rylin, her dear sister Cynthia Drucker, several nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces, and friends too many to mention.
