Susan Soultana Doukides, age 64, of Toledo, OH, passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2021. Susie was born on August 24, 1956, to the late Dr. Stergios and Frances (Jamoulis) Petas in Springfield, MA. She attended St. Ursula Academy and The University of Toledo. Susie married the love of her life, Dr. Panos Doukides, in 1977, and they went on to build their beautiful family with their two sons, Theodore and Steven. Meanwhile over the years, Susie enjoyed working as an office manager for Panos, realtor, business owner, property manager and in retail sales at several Toledo businesses.
Susie was a proud, active lifelong member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, and was a longtime Philoptochos Ladies Society board member, serving as President from 2014 to 2017. She was a committee member for Greece Uncorked and the church’s 100th Anniversary Celebration, and she contributed to numerous Greek Festivals as well as the Feed the Hungry Program. Susie willingly assumed any committee chair to benefit the parish. She was also a GOYA advisor and Sunday School teacher. She was a participant, supporter and fundraiser for numerous organizations including the Toledo Opera Guild and its Sapphire Ball and was a long-time member of The Academy of Medicine of Toledo Alliance.
Susie lived her life with love and would help anyone. She enjoyed being with her family and friends more than anything in the world. She especially loved being with her grandkids in Boca Raton, Florida where she was when she passed. Susie was elegant, fabulous, sassy and always the best dressed. Her cooking was the most delicious, and no one left her house hungry. She lit up a room with her presence. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to a wide circle who miss her dearly.
Surviving are her husband, Dr. Panos T. Doukides; sons, Dr. Theodore Doukides (Agelika), Dr. Steven Doukides (Irene); grandchildren, Panayiotis, Konstandinos and Maria; sister, Marina Wade (Robert); Sisters-in-law, Anette Norden and Tobey Petas; nieces and nephews, Nicholas, Stephanie, Abigail, Kelsey, Isabella, Olivia and Claire. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Nicholas S. Petas and James S. Petas; and her sister, Thelma L. Petas.
A private funeral service will be on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at 10:00 am at St. Mark Greek Orthodox Church in Boca Raton, FL where a livestream will be available on St. Mark’s website.
