Susan F. Connaughton passed from this life into the arms of our Lord on November 20, 2025. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30am on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Deerfield Beach, FL. Burial will follow at Deerfield Beach Memorial Cemetery, Deerfield Beach, FL.
Susan was born on October 5, 1949 in Liverpool, England to Frank and Doreen Clancy. As a young child, Susan moved with her family to Miami, FL, and officially became a Florida native. She went on to receive her bachelor’s degree in education from Florida State University, and began her career as a Catholic School teacher settling at St. Ambrose Catholic Church & School In Deerfield Beach, FL. It was there she met and married Seamus Connaughton. They went on to have three beautiful children, Shamus in 1978, Jessica in 1979 and Aisling in 1981.
She enjoyed many trips with her family to Ireland and England to visit overseas relatives, as well as summers in North Carolina staying in cabins and enjoying the Smokey Mountains. One memorable occasion was white water rafting in North Carolina, where her daughter, Jessica bravely saved her from falling into the rapids. Needless to say, It was a one and done experience!
Susan went on to become a social worker for the state of Florida specializing in helping people with special needs and disabilities. Susan went above and beyond for her cases forming special bonds with those she helped. She found much joy in her work.
Later on in retirement, Susan enjoyed family time with her children as well as becoming a devoted grandmother!
She is now in Heaven with her beloved daughter, Jessica, who was there to welcome her home with open arms as well as her loving parents and beloved dogs.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Doreen and Frank and her daughter, Jessica. She is survived by her children, Shamus D. Connaughton and wife, Paulina of Boca Raton, Aisling Connaughton Snider and husband, Jason of Delray Beach, FL; grandchildren, Darragh and Colin Connaughton. Susan is also survived by her sisters, Jane Walter and Maureen Ramos. Also, brothers Daniel, John and Matthew Clancy.
