Stephen Martin Gershenson died November 18, 2024, in Boca Raton, Florida. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, on June 9, 1941, to Harry and Sylvia Kramer Gershenson.
Steve began his career with Booz-Allen & Hamilton where he became a senior associate. In 1978, he established Gershenson & Associates, a management consulting firm specializing in project management and staff training. Mr. Gershenson was a frequent speaker and lecturer before businesses and technical groups throughout the world. His ability to share his wisdom through his articulate communicative skills was a trait admired by those who knew him. He was also a Faculty Associate of the American Management Association. While serving as Deputy Director for the Presidential Commission on Federal Information Resources Management, Steve wrote and edited technical reports that served as the basis for legislation and policy reform.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Steve will be remembered for his intellect, sense of humor, kindness, gentlemanly ways, and well-groomed appearance. His passion for excellence and his generosity of spirit made him an exceptional teacher, not one to jump to conclusions, and patient and thoughtful in his responses. Everyone who met him felt honored by his personal care and attention.
A few of his passions – of which there were many – include his love of classical music, art, golf, particularly with his father-in-law, Sam P. Burton, volunteering, traveling the world with Diane, his loving wife of 38 years, and spending time with and reading to his grandchildren.
He had so much life and love to give, and the many connections he made are a testament to the big and wonderful life he lived. Steve knew a little about everything, but mostly he knew how to love.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Amy Ross, Adam Gershenson, and stepdaughter, Marjorie Posada (Ivan). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Micah Gershenson, Jacob and Leila Ross, and Cameron and Madeline Posada; his sister, Deedee King; and his in-laws, Linda and Fred McKinney, Bob and Pat Burton, and Debbie and Joel Sokol, and cousins: Myra Sallet, Karen Florman, Mark Gershenson, Maxine Isaacs, and Audrey Bergier, and nieces and nephews.
