Stephen Philip Habakkuk Butler

Stephen Philip Habakkuk Butler (36), of Atlanta, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2026 in Atlanta with his family by his side.

Stephen was born on June 18, 1990, in Columbus, Ohio. The only son of proud parents, Gordon and Dawn Butler. Stephen, along with his two sisters, grew up in South Florida. Stephen received  his high school diploma from Wellington Christian School (Wellington, FL) in 2008; a Bachelor of Science in Teaching in history from Lee University (Cleveland, TN) in 2012; and a Juris Doctor  from Florida State University College of Law (Tallahassee, FL) in 2018. Stephen served for two years in the Peace Corps, teaching English to children in Azerbaijan, and he worked for the United  States Postal Service from 2019 until his passing.

To know Stephen was to truly love being around him and to expect the unexpected.  Stephen is lovingly remembered for his thoughtfulness for others, endless generosity, kindness, ingenuity,  creativity, and adventurous spirit. He traveled all over the world and loved to be outdoors playing with his dogs, hiking, kayaking, rock climbing, unicycling, and playing basketball and pickleball. At  6 feet 4 inches tall, Stephen was a gentle giant with the best hugs. In his death, he continued to care for others by donating his vital organs so that others may live.

Stephen is survived by his wife, Ashley Beck; by his parents, Gordon and Dawn (Henneman) Butler of Boca Raton, Florida; by his siblings, Anna (Butler) and Jonathan Knowles of Apex, North  Carolina, and Lydia (Butler) and Kevin Worden of Boca Raton, Florida; by seven nieces and one nephew; by his beloved Pyredoodles: Poppy and Mobi; and by many friends and co-workers. All  will miss his joyful presence.

A viewing for Stephen will be held at Glick Family Funeral Home of Boca Raton on Saturday, July 25, 2026 at 10:30 a.m., followed by a formal service at 11:30 a.m.  Services can be viewed live at Stephen Butler Online Service
