It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Stephanie Deutsch, born on December 22, 1960, in Great Neck, New York. After a courageous battle with cancer, Stephanie passed on October 8, 2024. She was preceded in death by her mother, Merle Cherlin, who held a special place in her heart, and her father, Morton Cherlin.
A woman small in size but large in life, Stephanie was unfailingly selfless and relentlessly committed to her family and friends. She met her husband, Steve, in 1986 and they were married in 1987. Together they raised two wonderful boys, Michael and Matthew, whose character and achievements brought her immeasurable joy and happiness. Together the four of them made many great memories as the boys were growing up, including Marlins, Dolphins, Panthers, and Heat games and family trips throughout the United States and Europe. Stephanie balanced a full-time career as a successful attorney with relentless love, advocacy, and support for her family. She never missed her boys’ baseball games, band concerts, or other activities. Stephanie emphasized the importance of spending time together, and her one rule was that the family ate dinner together every night.
Michael and Matthew brought two cherished daughters-in-law into the family, Julie (Michael’s wife) and Carlye (Matthew’s wife). Most recently, Stephanie was overjoyed to become a grandma with the birth of Mirielle (“Miri”) Livia Deutsch, daughter of Michael and Julie.
After Michael and Matthew pursued careers outside of Florida, Stephanie and Steve traveled extensively and, despite her illness, lived life to its fullest. During Stephanie’s years-long illness, she remained relentlessly positive and focused on her family. She was determined to, and succeeded in, seeing both boys get married and the birth of her granddaughter. Despite multiple health complications, Stephanie remained motivated by joining her family in trips, events, and being a part of their lives.
Stephanie earned a BSBA from the University of Florida and a law degree from the University of Miami.
A constant source of support, guidance, and wisdom, Stephanie will be greatly missed by all who knew her. We will all strive every day to honor her memory by maintaining her spirit and optimism.
