Samuel Rosa Obituary

Samuel Robert Rosa “Sam”

December 11, 1944 – August 12, 2019

Died at the age of 74 in Boca Raton, Florida

He was born in Chicago, IL. Years after his father’s passing, his family moved to Florida to be closer to family. He graduated from Seacrest High School in Delray Beach, FL in 1964. This is where he met his future wife, Darlene. After graduation he joined the Air Force and served during the Vietnam War where he was stationed in Guam. When he returned after his tour of duty, he went to trade school to learn how to become a mechanic. While in trade school he married the love of his life, Darlene Scargill Rosa. They were married for 49 years until his death. He was later hired by the City of Boca Raton as a mechanic for their Fleet Maintenance Department and later moved up into managerial positions within Fleet Maintenance. He retired from the city after 30 years of service.

As a child he fell in love with fishing when his father would take him and his brother. Sam’s father also started his love for Lionel Trains. Sam grew up and brought that love to his own family. He would spend hours designing layouts for his trains. He loved to go fishing. He enjoyed sharing his love of fishing with friends and family. However, Sam’s biggest joy was watching his children play sports. He loved it so much that he became a coach. It was through coaching that he made a positive influence on hundreds of young adults. He was deemed the “Favorite Coach” and everyone wanted to be on his team. He absolutely adored his children and was happy to be a father figure to many children who needed a positive male role model in their lives. Sam was a wonderful, kind, caring man. He would do anything for anyone. A mechanic by trade he became everyone’s “Mr. Fix-it”.

Sam was born to Salvatore “Sam” and Mary (Tischart) Rosa on December 11, 1944 in Chicago IL. He is survived by his wife, Darlene (Scargill) Rosa; his son, Samuel Rosa Jr. (Loretta) ; his daughter Susan Rosa; his brother Donald Rosa (Nancy), his sister Joanne (Rosa) Crestani; as well as his grandchildren Nicolaus Rosa, Samantha Broadbridge, Christopher Jones, and Cyan Jones and many nieces and nephews.
