Ronald Louis Polane Sr.

Ronald Louis Polane Sr. beloved father and respected golf professional, passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at the age of 88.

He was born on December 10, 1937, in Palm Beach County, Florida, the son of Louis Henry Polane and Elmer Louise Kirby. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jerry Polane.   

Ron is survived by his beloved wife, Sandy Polane; children Beverly Hill, Lisa Jackson (Danny), Ron Polane Jr (Krista), and Mike Polane; grandchildren Chase Hill (Kim), Heather Tinkle (Scott), Tyler Jackson (Reagan), Jenny Sharkey (Cullen), Haley Polane, Erica Polane, and Ronni Polane; great-grandchildren Jade Hill, Carson Hill, Mckenzie Tinkle, Karter Tinkle, and Ellie Jackson; his sister, Natalie Cauley and nephew Steven Cauley.

Ron’s early years were spent in the scenic town of Hot Springs, Virginia, a place that shaped both his character and his love of golf. After attending Virginia Tech, Ron began his golf career working for Sam Snead at The Greenbrier in West Virginia, before relocating to Florida to continue working with Snead at the Boca Raton Hotel and Resort. Ron dedicated over 40 years as head golf professional at The Boca Raton Hotel and Resort, earning recognition as one of four long-tenured golf professionals at the resort, following legends Tommy Armour and Sam Snead. During his career, he received many accolades and had the opportunity to meet numerous influential and famous people. A PGA Life Member, he continued competing in events throughout his life. Golf was his lifelong passion, and it is easy to imagine him still on the course somewhere today had his health not declined.

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
