Rodney Lou Dumke, 60, was a man who loved the outdoors, good company, and the life he built with his family. Rodney entered the Kingdom of Heaven on Friday, November 28, leaving behind a legacy of strength, loyalty, and love that will continue to guide the people who loved and knew him best.
Born in Poughkeepsie, New York, Rodney later settled down in Boca Raton, Florida with the love of his life, Cindy, where he poured his heart and energy into raising his family and building a future he was proud of. No matter how busy life became, he always found a way to spend time with his loved ones. He enjoyed traveling to the places that brought him peace, his river house on the Suwannee and his acreage in Minnesota. Those quiet stretches of land and water were his sanctuary, the places where he could breathe deeply, slow down, and just be himself.
A true self-made man, Rodney built a successful family business from the ground up, cleaning pools throughout South Florida. What began as hard work turned into a legacy, one defined by grit, integrity, and the kind of determination that inspired everyone around him. His hands built a business, but his heart built a life that lifted his family and gave them everything they needed and more.
Rodney lived fully, loudly, and with so much heart. He loved hunting and fishing, cheering on the Minnesota Vikings, jet skiing, boating, cooking, and spending long, easy days with friends and the people he loved. He had a gift for turning strangers into friends, for making people feel seen, welcome, and important. Conversations with him whether minutes or hours long always left an impression.
He is survived and lives on through the family he adored and protected with every part of himself: his loving wife, Cindy Dumke; his children Eric, Luke, and RaeAnn Dumke; his parents Audrey and Larry Dumke; his brother Greg Dumke; his sister Kimberly Dumke; his loving dog Remington as well as all of his extended family and many lifelong friends. Rodney was loyal and tough, yet deeply caring. He was motivating, thoughtful, funny, and entirely one-of-a-kind. He was the person others called when they needed help, advice, or simply someone steady and strong to lean on.
Rodney had a way of touching people’s lives without even trying. His presence was big, his laughter unforgettable, and his love unmistakable. He leaves behind a beautiful life he built with his family, one filled with memories that will be cherished forever. His legacy lives on in each person he shaped, supported, and loved, and in the countless moments he created that will never be forgotten.
A Funeral Service will be held in remembrance and honor of him on Saturday, December 13th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church and School, 701 West Palmetto Park Road, Boca Raton, Florida, 33486.
