With deep sorrow, the family announces the passing of Roberto Bedoya, who departed on November 30, 2025, at the age of 88.
Born on April 29, 1937, son of Antonia Alvarado Villayzán and Isaías Bedoya Tejada, Roberto grew up with his mother, in a home shared with his siblings Isaías, Lucho, and Renee.
He married María Chirinos, with whom he shared 60 years of uninterrupted and loving union. From this bond came their four children: Milly, Jessica, Erika, and Renato, who today honor his memory with gratitude and pride. Roberto is also survived by his seven grandchildren, who were a great joy in his life: Cayetana, Valeria, Alvaro, Camila, Almudena, Rodrigo, Macarena, and Adriano. He also leaves behind his “dog grandchildren”: Túpac, Leia+, Tobi+, and Rey.
Throughout his professional career, Roberto worked in business roles in differents companies, including Poli Color and Neisser & Co. In 1978, inspired by his wife’s vision, he founded Librería Zeni’s, initially focused on baby and children’s party items, later specializing in office supplies, books, and copying services. Over time, this venture became one of the most recognized bookstores in Santiago de Surco, later expanding to San Isidro, on Miguel Dasso Street.
Since 2001, he began a new chapter of his life by moving to Florida with his wife, invited by his daughter Jessica and son-in-law Jorge. He obtained American citizenship—of which he was very proud—and this allowed them to build a peaceful life in their later years, welcoming their children and grandchildren and traveling frequently to Peru.
Deeply committed to community service, Roberto was an active participant in the Lions Club and a consistent collaborator with the Catholic Church. His life was marked by joy, good humor, honesty, empathy, and intelligence. Those who knew him remember him as a noble, enthusiastic, creative, hardworking, and generous man, whose warmth left an imprint on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
For the last thirteen years, he bravely faced prostate cancer, an illness that, despite its periods of remission, ultimately brought his earthly life to an end. Roberto was an avid fan of Alianza Lima and Barcelona of Spain, a lover of good steak, perfectly timed jokes, and the simple pleasure of being with his family. His love for his “Maruja” was constant and unbreakable, as was his ever-present desire to keep his children united.
The family honors the life of an exemplary husband, father, and grandfather, with the certainty that Roberto gave his life to Jesus and now rests in eternal life with God.
“Birth is a miracle, being alive is a gift, health is a blessing, and living in peace is happiness.”
