Dr. Robert Bernard Sigda
On August 17, 2021, the world lost a man who exemplified discipleship of Christ. He was a devoted husband to his cherished wife Pam, and adored his children and grandchildren.
Bob was born to his wonderful parents Cecilia and Branislaw Sigda in Holyoke, Massachusetts on April 26, 1935. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Worcester College, his Masters of Science degree from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and his Doctorate along with his wife.
Bob was dedicated to empowering American children to become world leaders in the scientific field. His passion resulted in the publication of UPCO’S Physical Setting Earth Science textbook utilized widely in schools across the country. He served as President of the National Science Teacher’s Association, was selected as outstanding Earth Science Teacher in the United States by the National Association of Geology Teachers, and was invited to speak at numerous conferences by the Secretary of Education under President Reagan.
Every day Bob walked in unwavering faith. In addition to his service to his church as a Lector and Eucharistic Minister, Bob shared his deep spirituality with others at his beloved Koinonia retreats at St. Joan of Arc. At the end of his presentation at each of these retreats, Bob finished with these words, “I walk and talk with Jesus every day. Some days, the walks are longer than others. At the end of our time together, Jesus walks back to His house and I walk back to my house. I know that one day at the end of our walk Jesus will say to me, ‘You know, Bob, today we are closer to My house than yours. Why don’t you come to My house?’” The day has come when Bob has joined Jesus in His House to experience the glory of the Lord that is the true meaning of all of our lives.
Bob leaves behind the love of his life, Pam, his children: Eric (Stacey), Neal (Alina), Kimberly (Steven), Robert (Mary Agnes), and Todd (Karin), his grandchildren: Lauren, Caitlin, Daniel, Kevin (Rachel), Brian, Kristin, Christopher, Grace, Victoria, Conner, and Danielle.
A visitation will be held from 4-8 PM on Friday, August 27 at Glick Family Funeral Home in Boca Raton. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Saturday, August 28 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Boca Raton. Entombment will follow at the Boca Raton Mausoleum.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy be sent to St. Joan of Arc R.C. Church in Boca Raton and Tunnel to Towers Foundation in New York.
