Richard Bruce Martin

Richard Bruce Martin, 93, of Boca Raton, FL passed away on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 in his home in Boca Raton.

Richard was born on October 10, 1927 to Orville Harwood Martin and Ellinor Grace Pentz in Wilkinsburg, a suburb of Pittsburgh, PA. He was a graduate from Wilkinsburg High School and then the University of Pittsburgh. Richard then settled in the Forest Hills and O’Hara township of Pennsylvania until 1972, when he moved the family to Boca Raton, FL.

Richard was an active member of Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church for many years in Ft Lauderdale, FL.

Richard married Carrie Roby Cassady on July 30, 1949, who predeceased him on August 5th, 1982. Richard is also predeceased by his brother, Kenneth Harwood Martin in 1967 and his sister, Susan Martin Sauers in 2002. He is survived by his three children, Sharon(Allan) Martin Viele, Scott(Carolyn) Harwood Martin, and Sally Lee(Jeff) Sands, Five Grandchildren, Laura Miller, Mark(Elyse) Viele, Carrie Lee Martin, Julianne(David) Luddeke, and Jeffrey Sands, as well as nine Great Grandchildren, Mason and Landon Miller, Thomas and Katheryn Martin, Braydon and Shea Sands, Graham Viele, and Jonah Rose and Linus Luddeke.

Richard is also survived by his second wife, Shirley Joy-Martin, married December 31, 1984, and her daughter, Patti(Michael) Staley and their children Tyler and Nathan Staley.

Richard will be laid to rest on Friday, April 30th, with a graveside service at 11am at the Boca Raton City Cemetery next to his first wife, Carrie Martin.
