Richard Jeffrey Fox, 76, passed away peacefully on Jun 21 in Boca Raton after a prolonged illness. Born in Pueblo, Colorado in 1946, Jeff developed a love of the outdoors and an early aptitude for science. He graduated from the Colorado School of Mines in 1971 as a mining engineer and then served as a 1st Lieutenant with the US Army’s 43rd Heavy Equipment Maintenance Company in West Germany. He then began an extraordinary career in the mining industry that spanned 40 years and took he and his family across North America, Europe, Africa and South America. He was passionate about geology and amassed an enormous gem and mineral collection from these travels. He led a life of adventure and enjoyed motorcycles, photography, scuba diving and flying. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wendy Fox, in 2011. He is survived by his daughter, Mieke, his son, Brian, and two granddaughters, Makayla and Emily.
