It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Richard “Rich” Draper, 77, of Delray Beach, FL. Rich passed away unexpectedly on January 12th, 2024 at Delray Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on April 20th, 1946 to the late Francis John Draper and Ruth Fischer Draper in Albany, NY. Rich graduated from Colonie High School prior to serving in the US Army. A proud veteran, he went on to become an electrician with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 724. Rich had a quick wit and a love for making people laugh. An outdoors man of sorts, he had passions for running, cycling and the game of golf. He enjoyed spending his time working out and was a member of Planet Fitness (Clifton Park, NY/Delray Beach, FL) for over twenty years. He was truly one of a kind. At the time of his death, he was excitedly awaiting the arrival of his first-born grandchild. He leaves a void in the hearts of his loved ones that will never be replaced.
Rich was preceded in death by his parents, Francis J Draper and Ruth Fischer Draper, and his brother Robert “Bob” Draper. Forever in the heart of his Daughter and best friend, Kristin Draper (Fort Lauderdale, FL), and son-in-law Paul Wesolowski (Fort Lauderdale, FL). Survived by his ex-wife of 30 years, Kelly Dugan Draper (Delray Beach, FL), his Aunt, Jacqueline Fisher (Albany, NY) and numerous nieces and cousins.
A memorial will be held at a later time, details to come at a later date.
