Family and friends are reeling from the loss of Ralph Peter Muller, who passed unexpectedly at the age of 84. Ralph's life began in Queens, NY where he grew up as an avid Dodgers fan. From Brooklyn to Los Angeles, it was a lifelong love affair that he carried on right up to the team's 2024 World Series victory against the NY Yankees.
After graduating from Pennsylvania Military College in 1962, Ralph served the country he loved dearly, becoming a 1st Lieutenant in the US Army. Following his service, Ralph joined the family business, Muller's Diner, and set the tone from 1964 – 1980 for a restaurant that is still operating today in East Stroudsburg, PA.
But Ralph had bigger dreams, and it didn’t take long to build them into reality. A ready entrepreneur, Ralph began a career in real estate in 1979, where he had a remarkable sense of what was to become a very hot market, and that was the timeshare business. From 1981 – 1985 Ralph Muller was the Top Salesperson at Shawnee on the Delaware.
His keen eye for opportunity landed Ralph in South Florida, where he founded Vacation Break USA in Fort Lauderdale in 1984. He would serve as Vacation Break’s CEO for 12 years, overseeing its growth ten years later into what became the most prominent publicly traded timeshare company listed on the NASDAQ exchange. In 1997 the company was acquired by what is today Wyndham Vacation Club.
Business aside, Ralph Muller was an avid athlete, evidenced by his fierce competitive nature on the golf course, a game he loved. He also had a passion for softball, playing the game well into his 70’s and even early 80’s. He was tireless in his personal training and workout regimen, day in and day out, throughout his life.
Ralph's home was a testament to his diverse tastes and hobbies. Over the years, he amassed an enviable collection of trains, automobiles, firearms, art, coins, and sports memorabilia. He took great pride in displaying and sharing these cherished items with all who would visit his private “museum."
Ralph is cherished by his loving wife of 22 years, Debbie, who strongly stood by his side as his best friend, his confidante, his advocate, and trusted business partner.
A loving father to 6 children, 14 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren...and two faithful canine companions, Ralph was pre-deceased by his son Daniel in 2019. He is survived by daughters Brenda (Chris) Muller Hayes, Deborah (Jud) Muller Jones, Linda (Glenn) Muller Fenner, and sons Kevin (Jeaneen) and Kenneth (Carolina) Muller. Along with several close cousins, nieces and nephew. Ralph proudly stood as their patriarch, offering his wisdom, generosity, and unconditional love.
A real gentleman and patriot, devoted to God, his country, his wife, family, and his friends, Ralph was soft-spoken and kind in heart but unwavering in his principles, a reminder of what it means to be a man. A true inspiration to all who knew him.
Ralph Muller left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him.
