Phyllis J. Linger

Phyllis J. Linger of Boca Raton, Florida, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2023, at the age of 80, after a brief illness.

She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, George "Jack;" son George Linger III of Boca Raton, FL; daughter Courtney Carroll and her husband Nick of Tampa, FL; two grandsons, J.R. and Matthew Carroll; brothers Greg Gotlinger and his wife Betty; and Jeff Gotlinger; brother-in-law Collins Linger and his wife Susan. Phyllis is also survived by many nieces, nephews and their families. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Hermine Gotlinger, and sister-in-law, Lyn Gotlinger.

Phyllis was born on January 16, 1943, in Washington, D.C., and moved around until settling with her parents in Short Hills, New Jersey. Phyllis worked and lived in New York City, where she met Jack. They eventually moved to Summit, New Jersey, where they started raising their family before relocating to Boca Raton, Florida, in 1979.

Phyllis loved playing tennis, spending summers at the Jersey Shore, watching sports with her beloved dog Cooper, and being Mimi to her grandsons by cooking pancakes, going to the beach, and playing cards and board games with them. Phyllis had the biggest heart and loved spending time with her lifelong friends in Florida and New Jersey. She will always be remembered as the best wife, mother and Mimi. She was loved by all and will be greatly missed.

A celebration of life is being planned for a later date.
