On October 1st, the Feast of St. Thérèse of Lisieux—the Little Flower—our beloved Peggyann Counts was called home to the Lord. It is no coincidence that her heavenly homecoming occurred not only on the day we honor a saint known for her simple, steadfast love, but also on the birthday of her cherished son-in-law, Adam, who preceded her in death.
What a tender sign of God’s providence that their souls should be connected on this special day—a reminder that love does not end with death but is woven into eternity. Just as St. Thérèse promised to “let fall a shower of roses” after her passing, perhaps Peggy and Adam now share that same eternal bond of intercession and care, watching over the family they both deeply loved.
Peggy was a devoted Catholic—a saintly woman who lived her faith with humility, kindness, and unshakable devotion to God and family. Her life was a testament to the beauty of small acts done with great love. Though her earthly presence will be missed beyond measure, we take comfort in knowing she is reunited with those who went before her and is now wrapped in the infinite light of Christ.
May the memory of Peggy—and the grace of this profound coincidence—remind us that our loved ones remain close, guiding us still. May her love and light transcend time and space, comforting those who mourn with the promise of reunion in God’s eternal embrace.
Peggy was the daughter of the late Pasquale and Antonia Gentile, the beloved wife of the late Frederick Counts, and the loving mother of the late Frederick Counts II. She is survived by her daughter, Amanda Apfelblat; her sister, Diana Gentile; and her nieces and nephews, Paula and Gary Coulier, and Jacki and Brad Landis.
Peggy was the best mom in the world—an irreplaceable treasure—who loved unconditionally and gave endlessly. Gone from this earth, she will live forever in the hearts of those who loved her.
