Paul Lojpersberger Obituary

Paul Joseph Lojpersberger, age 91, passed away peacefully on March 5th, 2024 near his home in Deerfield Beach, Florida. Paul was born in Johnson City New York and was the son of Czechoslovakian immigrants that worked at Endicott Johnson shoes and settled in the Binghamton Area. As a young man, Paul’s father, Paul Sr, who was the Chief Physical Director for the Sokol USA moved the family several times in the Northeast. Paul graduated from New Kensington High School but always felt close ties to his friends at Johnson City High School. Paul attended college and played basketball for Lenore Rhyne University before transferring to Duquesne University. As a team member at Duquesne, Paul was a Basketball player on the 1955 NIT Championship team and is a member of Duquesne’s Hall of Fame.  After graduation, Paul joined the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fifth Army headquarters in Chicago. After leaving the Army, Paul resettled back in the Binghamton area working for GE and then Binghamton University. In 1962, he met the love of his life Joan Molinari, and this August they celebrated their 61st wedding Anniversary.

After retiring from Binghamton University, Paul and Joan moved to Deerfield Beach, Florida. They were a very active couple – involved in a number of dance groups; St. Ambrose church groups, traveling the world; taking the grandkids everywhere and going on 57 Cruises. The pride and joy of Paul’s life was family. He was very active with his children and grandchildren attending every sporting event and school activity throughout the years.

Paul is survived by his wife Joan Lojpersberger. His son David Lojpersberger (Regina) and their entire family; his daughter Susan Perez (Rick) and his grandchildren Nicholas Perez; Vincent Perez; and Kristin Perez. His niece Lorraine Nola (Chris) who were always there to help out; Joanne Kudla (Mike); Donna Fisher (Bob) and their families. Paul was predeceased by his sister Lida Benyak.

The Family would like to thank all the neighbors of Paul and Joan as they were instrumental in helping them live independently. The Family would also like to thank all the healthcare workers that touched Paul’s Life.

A Catholic Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Ambrose in Deerfield Beach Florida on Friday March 22nd at 9:30am. A celebration of life will follow the mass.  Burial will be at a later date for family and friends in in Johnson City, New York.
