Myrna Hope Weinstein

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, Myrna Hope Weinstein, whose life was filled with adventure, resilience, independence, and an enduring love for her family.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, to Ruth and Alfred Danoff, Myrna spent her younger years in Brooklyn and than moved to Great Neck, where she made many friends and graduated from Great Neck High School. She continued her education at Vermont College before graduating from the University of Miami with a bachelors degree, in education. After completing her student teaching in Florida, she returned to New York, where she began her teaching career in the Dix Hills and Farmingdale school districts.

The next chapter of Myrna’s life began when she married Allen Roy Weinstein. Together they settled in Plainview, New York, Allen was an architect and Myrna continued teaching before welcoming their two daughters, Sherri and Dana. Choosing to devote herself to raising her family, Myrna embraced the role of stay-at-home mother. The family later moved to Roslyn, where countless memories were made.

Although Myrna and Allen eventually went their separate ways, they remained connected by the family they built together and continued to care deeply for one another. She was heartbroken by Allen’s passing in 2024, a testament to the respect and bond they shared throughout their lives.

Myrna had an adventurous spirit and a love for experiencing all that life had to offer. She cherished traveling the world, especially cruising, which was among her greatest joys. She loved skiing, playing tennis, golfing, and creating memories with those she loved. Whether enjoying vacations, ski houses, country clubs, or discovering new destinations, Myrna truly embraced life’s adventures. Nothing brought a bigger smile to her face than having her daughters join her along the way.

Later in life, Myrna began another wonderful chapter when she moved to Florida, where she spent more than twenty years building lasting friendships, creating new memories, and continuing to enjoy the sunshine and the life she loved along with her beloved dog cookie 

Myrna was fiercely independent, determined, and tenacious. Like many, her life was not without its challenges, and her journey included difficult chapters. Yet she always searched for brighter days, finding ways to move forward with hope. She expressed her love in her own unique way, and those who knew her understood the strength, resilience, and spirit that defined her.

Her greatest pride was her family. She is survived by her daughters, Sherri and Dana; her sons-in-law, Joey and Jason; and her seven beloved grandchildren: Marissa  who is married to Chase. Darin  who is married to Jessica Amanda and her boyfriend Nick , Matt, Taylor  who will marry Michael in January Nikki and Jake. She was also blessed with five treasured great-grandchildren: Athena, Ella, Aurora, Dalia, and DJ, each of whom brought her immense joy.

Myrna is also survived by her brother, Dudley Danoff, and his wife, Hedva, of California; their daughter, Aurelle, and her family; and their son, Doran, his family 

Myrna leaves behind a legacy of strength, perseverance, adventure, and family. She taught those who loved her that life is meant to be lived fully, that every new chapter brings new possibilities, and that love can be shown in many different ways.

She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
