Morgan Roy Donato Jr., a veteran of World War II and longtime resident of Pittsburgh, PA, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2021 while surrounded by family at his home in Boyton Beach, FL. Morgan was born August 9, 1925 to Morgiano “George” and Adeline (Donatelli) DiDonato and attended Peabody High School before enlisting in the U.S. Army at the age of 17 in January, 1943. As a private, in the 39th Infantry Regiment, Morgan saw significant action in Europe including storming Utah Beach on June 10, 1944 and fighting in the Battle of the Bulge. The U.S. Army recognized Morgan by awarding him more than 20 medals including the Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts for his honorable service and injuries sustained during the Battle of Hürtgen Forest in Germany. Morgan didn't speak much about his time in the Army, but he did proudly march in parades with other veterans, took part in a WWII Honor Flight to Washington D.C. in 2014 and was active in the American Legion and VFW.
After returning from Europe, Morgan worked as a butcher, attended technical school and eventually became a partner in National Television, the family business that provided computer and electronics repairs to the residents of East Liberty for more than 30 years. Morgan served as a dedicated elder and deacon of Ascension Lutheran Church in Pittsburgh and Trinity Lutheran Church after moving to Panama City Beach, FL. Morgan and his most caring and compassionate wife of 7 years, Wilma (Coralde) most recently lived happily together in Boynton Beach, FL. Morgan was an exceptional golfer and artist who dedicated countless hours crafting ceramics, and building intricate train displays and dollhouses for his grandchildren and various charitable fundraisers.
