Michael Rienzo
January 19, 1938 – December 23, 2025
Michael Rienzo, lovingly known as “Pop,” was born on January 19, 1938, in Newark, New Jersey. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and patriarch, Michael lived a life defined by service, hard work, and unwavering dedication to his family.
Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents, Michael and Mary Rienzo; his parents, Louis and Alma Rienzo; his brother, Louis Rienzo; his beloved wife of 56 years, Joyce Rienzo; his daughter, Renee McInerney; his son, Michael Rienzo; and his great-granddaughter, Lisa Weed. Though his heart carried great loss, his love for family never wavered.
He is survived by his son, George Winters; his brother, Richard Rienzo; his grandchildren, Kelly, Michelle, Anthony, Louis, and Gina; and his beloved great-grandchildren, Jesse, Madison, and Maria, who brought him immense pride and joy.
Michael proudly served his country in both the United States Navy and the United States Marine Corps as a Corpsman. His final duty station was in Okinawa, Japan, serving with Company “B,” 1st Amtrac Battalion, 3rd Marine Division, Fleet Marine Force—an experience he carried with pride throughout his life.
On December 31, 1961, Michael married the love of his life, Joyce. Together they built a marriage rooted in devotion, teamwork, and love. They raised their family in Elizabeth, New Jersey, then in Hazlet, before relocating to South Florida. Michael worked at General Electric as a General Manager for 14 years. He later owned and operated three successful restaurants and went on to work for Tarmac Inc. for 14 years as General Manager of the Concrete Block and Resale Division for Florida and Georgia. He later joined Coastal Masonry, where he served as General Manager and Vice President until his retirement.
Throughout his career, Michael earned deep respect for his leadership, integrity, and steady presence. The owners of Coastal Masonry, Gary and Linda Jones, became close friends, as did Ron and Debbie Pronyk—friendships that lasted more than 40 years. Michael valued these relationships deeply, finding true joy in the bonds he built over a lifetime. His friends were an extension of his family, and he took great pride in standing by them just as faithfully as they stood by him.
One of Michael’s greatest joys was knowing that he and Joyce were able to spend her final 15 years traveling the world together, visiting more than 70 countries. Those adventures were a reflection of a life well lived and a love deeply shared.
Michael Rienzo leaves behind a legacy of loyalty, service, resilience, and love. As the true patriarch of the family, he was a constant source of strength, wisdom, and guidance. His greatest joy came from being “Pop,” and he cherished his grandchildren and great-grandchildren beyond measure, taking immense pride in each of them and the lives they continue to build.
His greatest legacy lives on in the moments that mattered most: the holidays gathered around his table, the Sunday dinners that brought everyone together, and the traditions he and Joyce created that made family feel like home. Pop will forever live on in the stories shared over meals, the laughter that filled the room, and the values he passed down through generations. His presence will always be felt in the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love him.
