Michael Patrick Johnson passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 10th, 2021 in Delray Beach FL.
Mike was born in Orlando, FL on October 23rd, 1949 to Silas and Dorothy Johnson, along with his twin sister Patricia. Five years later they welcomed a little brother - George. The family lived in central Florida for a number of years, and ended up in Pompano Beach where Mike graduated from Pompano Beach HS in 1967.
After graduation, Mike joined the Air Force where he did tours in Vietnam and Turkey. He came back to Pompano Beach where he worked as a pressman for the National Enquirer for a number of years. He left that job to pursue a career in air conditioning - eventually starting his own business. This gave him the experience needed to become a mechanical inspector for the City of Delray - a job he loved so much he had recently returned to work there part time after officially retiring in October.
Mike was a true family man, whose greatest joy in life was spending time with his 4 children and 8 grandchildren. He spent many hours playing golf, relaxing on his deck with a nice cigar, fishing, and being with friends. He was a loving, humble, generous, loyal, funny, Christian man. Those who knew him were honored to have been in his life.
He leaves behind an incredible legacy - a family he was proud of and devoted to. He is survived by his son Aaron(Kristi) Johnson and their children, Drake and Waylon; son Ryan(Hope) Johnson, and their children, Jonah and Max; daughter Michelle(Sean) Peters, and their children, Jackson and Fallon; daughter Rachel(Matt) Medeiros, and their children, Maddox and Mila; sister Patricia Nicely(Steven); and the mother of his children Debra(Klodzinski) Johnson and his beloved friend Annie DeMattia. He is predeceased by his brother George and his mother and father.
Family and friends are invited to honor Mike on Friday, February 19th, 2021 at Glick’s Funeral Home, Boca Raton from 4pm to 6pm with a prayer service at 6pm
Donations can be made in Mike’s name to St. Jude's or the Florida Sherriff’s Youth Ranch
