Michael Deeg Obituary

It is with profound sorrow and much love that we mourn the very unexpected passing of Michael  Deeg, 56 on March 20, 2024, in Highland Beach, Florida. He was a father, husband, son, world traveler, esteemed professional, and loyal friend who touched the lives of so many.

Born on March 22, 1967, Michael was raised in Newburgh, Indiana. He attended Culver Military Academy and then studied Business at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri where he finished his undergraduate studies in three years. Michael continued his education at the University of Chicago where he received his MBA. Michael was a highly-regarded and well-accomplished businessman. He started his career in the financial sector and worked for large investment banks including Goldman Sachs, Barclays, and HSBC. Most recently, Michael was a cryptocurrency consultant and was working with a company leading their bitcoin mining efforts. He was passionate about the intersection of finance and technology. As an early Bitcoin adopter, investor, and enthusiast, he was known as the Bitcoin OG in professional and crypto circles.

Michael lived and worked the majority of his adult life in New York City. He loved the energy of the city and all it had to offer. He was a foodie and had his favorite restaurants, from small local restaurants serving local cuisines he was accustomed to during his travels to the latest hotspots. He met his wife Aditi in the city, and they had two beautiful children together and spent a lot of their time in Long Island at their family home, or traveling the world on school and summer holidays.

Michael had a passion and zest for life - a world traveler, who loved learning and adventures. He fulfilled his desire to visit all continents and more than 150 countries. From being with gorillas in Uganda, swimming with penguins in the Galapagos Islands to scuba diving in the Great Barrier Reef. He also held his pilot’s license and flew recreationally during his off time. His favorite plane was his trusted Cessna. Michael was also an avid fan of music, from Radiohead to Neil Young, and frequently attended concerts. Michael shares his passion for music with his son and just two weeks ago they went to see ZZ Top and Lynyrd Skynyrd, it was his son’s first concert.

Everyone who met Michael was impressed with his intelligence, sense of humor, and warm spirit and heart, which would touch their lives forever. He was a caring, loving person, committed and passionate about his relationships, family, and friends

He was a proud and dedicated father to his two children who were the loves of his life. Recently Michael and his family moved to Florida. He was chuffed to see his children thrive and experience so many new adventures and was so proud of his son’s musical talent and his daughter’s artistic skills.

Michael was preceded in death by his Father, David Vernon Deeg. He is survived by his Mother, Judy Morton, his Stepmother, Rebecca Deeg, his Wife, Aditi Deeg, and his two children, Alexa (12) and Andre Deeg (11).

Michael was a giant among men, he was smart and loving and accomplished so much in his short life. Although he was taken from us too soon, his heart lives on in his children Andre and Alexa who were his whole world.
