Michael John Clark, 81, passed away October 20, 2024 at Vitas Hospice Healthcare in Delray Beach after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. Mike was born on December 11, 1942, in Toledo, Ohio. He is survived by his wife Mary, son Jay, daughter-in-law Tina and granddaughter Hailey.
Following his studies at Denison University and University of Michigan Business School, Mike attended Navy OCS in Newport, Rhode Island. It was here that he married his college sweetheart, Mary, in 1967. The couple were stationed in Charleston, South Carolina, where Michael proudly served as an officer on a guided missile destroyer.
Following his military service, Michael worked for IBM in Boca Raton before taking over the family lumber business in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1981. He returned to Boca Raton in 1992, where he continued his active involvement in the business and the community. Michael and Mary were longstanding members of the Royal Palm Yacht & Country Club and lived in the neighborhood for over 40 years.
Michael was also a member of First Presbyterian Church of Boca Raton which became the Grace Community Church of Boca Raton. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and uncle, known for his humility, caring nature, and gentlemanly demeanor. He enjoyed golf, boating, travel and attending various sports events. He was most proud of the Kansas City Chiefs and their recent Super Bowl wins.
A visitation will be held on Monday, October 28, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Glick Funeral Home in Boca Raton, FL. A private graveside burial service will be conducted the following day at the Boca Raton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Michael's honor to Vitas Hospice Community Connection or the Alzheimer’s Association Southeast Chapter. Michael's life and legacy as a family man, proud veteran and successful businessman will be remembered by all who knew him.
