Maureen Donadio Obituary

Maureen Ann Donadio passed away peacefully on July 10, 2024 in Pompano Beach, Florida She was blessed to be able to spend her last weeks, peacefully, at home surrounded by her beloved children and friends. Her desire to be at home after her long battle with cancer was fulfilled as she entered into heaven with dignity and grace.

Maureen was born on July 24, 1951, in New York City. Her parents Patrick O'Keffe and Dorothy Blackman O'Keffe preceded her in death. Maureen's father worked for NYC transportation and her mother for the NY telephone company. Maureen attended school in Queens New York and was especially close to her grandparents Julius Morlang (NYPD) and Anna Sullivan Morlang. Lively family gatherings with her parents, grandparents, Uncle Joe and Eleanor Blackman as well as cousin Joe Blackman Jr. were always the highlight of each passing year.

Maureen and her parents moved to Fort Lauderdale, Fl where Pat and Dorothy managed condominiums along Fort Lauderdale Beach. Maureen had a thriving home cleaning business but was most proud of her many years in recovery from addiction and working with women fighting the same battle. Mo worked with Broward County Department of Corrections taking care women into her care and helping them start a new way of life. She did this through her Next Step living program which she lived & breathed for. Most recently, she was awarded the esteemed title by Broward County as the Irish Mother of The Year. Maureen felt as though she never worked a day in her life as her passion was to love the women she worked with just like they were family. Mo went on to open Cornerstone treatment center which was short-lived as God had other plans for her. "The Program" gave her more family and many close friends who benefited from her dedication to sobriety.

Mo is survived by her son Patrick Joseph Donadio (Cathy), daughter Robbi Beth (Todd) Centeio, 4 grand daughters, Kayla, Alaina, Jazmyn & Jenesis, grandson David; and her beloved cousin Joseph Blackman.

She was the greatest mother, grandmother, friend, and mentor anyone could ever dream of.  She loved deeply and was generous to a fault.  She will be forever remembered and greatly missed.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 2-4 PM on Sunday, August 18 at the 101 Club, 700 SW 10th St., Pompano Beach, FL  33060.
