Maryann Briant Zanowic, born August 12, 1934, in Camden, NJ passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of devotion to her family, her faith, and her community.
Maryann was a proud graduate of North Plainfield High School. In her early years, she enjoyed modeling and worked as a typist for Sanders Associates, where she typed ICBM manuals before dedicating herself fully to raising her family. In 1956, she married the love of her life, James J. Zanowic Sr., beginning a beautiful partnership that spanned 70 years.
In 1979, Maryann and her family began wintering in Jupiter, Florida, and in 2006 she made it her permanent home. An avid golfer, she was a longtime member of Greenbrier Golf Club, Jupiter Dunes Golf Club, and Hobe Sound Golf Club. During her golfing career, she proudly recorded two holes-in-one — a testament to her skill and love of the game.
Maryann also held a special place in her heart for Hawaii. She returned to the islands every year, eventually finding a second home in the warmth of the Pacific and the dear friends she made there over the decades.
Maryann was deeply involved in her community. She served as Past Vice President of the Brick Hospital Fund in Brick, Past Secretary of the Junior Catholic Woman’s Club in North Plainfield, and Past Secretary of the Junior Sports League in Brick, New Jersey.
She was predeceased by her parents, Dudley and Mae Briant; her loving husband of 70 years, James J. Zanowic Sr.; her brother, Robert A. Briant Sr.; and her sons, Tommy Zanowic and Michael Zanowic.
Maryann is survived by her sister, Charlene Briant DeLaurentis; her brother, Charles Briant (Joanne); sister-in-law Carole Briant; her daughter, Susan Setrin (Jeff); her sons, James J. Zanowic Jr. (Cindy), Peter Zanowic (Mary) and daughter-in-law Lynne; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Maryann will be remembered for her grace, strength, wit, and unwavering dedication to her family. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched.
The service will be private.
