Mary Elizabeth Rocco

Mary (Phelan) Rocco, 91, of Boca Raton, passed away peacefully at Trustbridge Hospice in Boca Raton on Tuesday, April 25th. She was born in Waterbury, CT on May 10, 1931 and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Waterbury, CT in 1948.

Mary was an active member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church from 1977 to 2010 and worked in the Bereavement Ministry, on Cursillo retreats, and with the Columbiettes. Later in life, Mary became a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church.

Mary worked in accounting in Lake County, Ohio before relocating to Boca Raton in 1977 and joining Lynn Insurance Company. She enjoyed her retirement years working as an accountant at Tomasso’s Pizza in Boca Raton.

Mary enjoyed family gatherings, sewing, crocheting hats for the New York homeless, reading, crossword puzzles, festivals, historical sites, international travel, flowers, and cooking. She loved outings to the theater, movies, and dinners including Alexander’s Chicken Pasta Soup, and Whit’s Frozen Custard ice cream. If all else failed: just ice cream!

She was preceded in death by her husband Francis, parents Arthur and Margaret Doran Phelan, and her daughter Catherine Mary Rocco. 

She is survived by her two brothers, Arthur (Jean) (Bethlehem, Pennsylvania) and John (Guilford, Connecticut) three daughters, Elizabeth Ann (Michael) Mazur (Cleveland, OH), Deborah Jean Rocco (Lakeland, FL), Margaret Mae (Michael) Tomasso (Boca Raton, FL), two sons, David Francis Rocco (Jill, Hickory, NC) and Jeffrey Francis Rocco (Alejandra, West Covina, California) 12 Grandchildren and 12 Great Grandchildren along with one great-great grandchild.

The family is wishing for the presence of loved ones on Sunday April 30th from 1-3pm at Glick Family Funeral Home. Please arrive by 2:30 for the Memorial Service.
