Mary Howland Hurley

Our heavenly Father welcomed Mary H. Hurley to her eternal home on Tuesday,  February 12, 2025.

Mary, 81, of Boca Raton, passed away at Boca Regional Hospital, the same hospital she dutifully served as an employee for 42 years.

Born in Chicago, Illinois on March 7, 1943, Mary was raised in White Plains, NY. She attended White Plains High School, graduating in 1962. The family relocated to Boca Raton in 1968.

Mary is preceded in death by parents Francis and Mary Hurley and brothers Michael and Thomas. She is survived by devoted brother Patrick (Lin) Hurley and 2 generations of nieces and nephews. 

Despite life's difficulties,  Mary generously offered her time, talent and treasure to her Catholic faith she so richly cherished. 

Mary was a long standing member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Boca Raton where she served as a Eucharistic Minister.

Compassion and care for the sick were foremost on Mary's mind,  and this called her to action to visit area nursing homes and assisted living facilities to administer Communion to the homebound.

Keeping the church clean and welcoming to all parishioners was courtesy of Mary.  Her willingness to volunteer in multiple areas of the church community made her well known and appreciated.

Mary's volunteer status  extended back to Boca Regional Hospital where she successfully achieved her goal of logging 5,000 service hours as a volunteer-a true testament to her determination and drive.

Mary made it her business to recognize birthdays and special occasions of family and friends by mailing or personally dropping off cards or notes.  She had the gift to touch hearts with her thoughtful gestures, all coming from a place of pure love.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, February 28 from 4-7PM at Glick Family Funeral Home 3600 North Federal Highway, Boca Raton.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Saturday, March 1 at St. Jude Catholic Church, Boca Raton.

The family requests attendees to wear blue to the Funeral Mass to honor Mary and her favorite color. Donations in Mary's name may be made to either  Boca Regional Hospital or St. Jude Catholic Church.
