Marion Morgan Abbott

Marion Louise “Sugar” Abbott , age 88, of Delray Beach, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 15th, 2024. Ms. Abbott was born in Fall River, MA, a daughter of the late William A Torphy and Anna Giblin Torphy and was a graduate of Manhattanville College.

Sugar filled everyone's lives with so much joy and love. Her fun and lighthearted spirit left an indelible impact on every person she met. Her family feels lucky to have been blessed with her warm heart, infectious laugh, and comforting wisdom for 88.5 years. She made everyone feel so special when in her presence. Sugar truly lived up to her name by being “sweet” to all in her everyday life.

Sugar loved all things tennis, whether it was watching matches or playing. Her family remembers her beautiful artistry, including basket weaving and paintings of coastal New England. She was a card shark and loved playing bridge at the Delray Beach Club with her friends.  Her favorite places to spend time were Cape Cod, MA and Little Compton, RI. She was always looking for her next adventure, whether it be an international trip or fun afternoon with a loved one.  Sugar was a devoted mother and grandmother, and will be so missed by her 4 children and 8 grandchildren.

Ms. Abbott is survived by her brother Fred Torphy; her 4 children, Anne Morgan, Patrick Morgan, Mary Jordan, and Brian Morgan; and her 8 grandchildren Leighton Jordan, Connor Morgan, Devon Morgan, Morgan Jordan, Shane Morgan, William Morgan, Isabel Jordan, and Spencer Jordan. She was pre-deceased by her brothers Bill and John and sister Anne. There will be a memorial service in Fall River, MA at a later date.
