Marietta Cuomo Obituary

Marietta Cuomo, née Nardone, of Boca Raton, FL.  Born January 25, 1926 in Newark, NJ, of immigrant Italian parents, Enrico and Mary Nardone, née Vezza.   Preceded in death by six siblings, Pete, John, Dominic, Anthony, Rose, and Edith; survived by sister Gilda, of West Orange, NJ.  Raised in Newark’s Little Italy, First Ward, home of Saint Lucy’s (Santa Lucia) Catholic Church.  Attended Arts High School in Newark, NJ; loved music, fashion, the arts, and attending Broadway shows and supper clubs in New York City.  Worked at National Union Radio Corporation, in Newark, NJ, where co-worker, Jennie Cuomo introduced her to her brother, Daniel Cuomo, who became her husband of 53 years, and who preceded her in death on April 7, 2005.

Together, in Newark, NJ,  Plainfield, NJ,  East Glenville (Schenectady) NY, Ocean Township, NJ, Marietta and Daniel raised: son, Michael Cuomo (Linda Nicoletti) of White Bear Lake, MN and Isle of Palms, SC;  son, John Cuomo (Helene) of Salt Lake City, UT;  and daughter, Barbara Feehan (Michael) of Boca Raton, FL. Together, they enjoyed vacations “down the shore” (NJ), and were socially active in their communities and the Catholic church. They retired in Calabash, NC, and Port St. Lucie, FL, where golf, couples’ bridge, and dinners with friends filled their golden years.

Reading, mahjong, bingo, and weekly excursions, together with continued active participation in the Catholic Church, consumed her time at Saint Andrews Estates in Boca Raton, FL.  Her many new friends found her inner strength, positive attitude, and warmth to be among her best qualities.

In addition to her children, she is survived by grandchildren  Samantha Star Cuomo of Brooklyn, NY; Michael Cuomo (Helene) of Tigard, OR;  Jessica Faga (Thomas) of Boynton Beach, FL; and Daniel Budd of Delray Beach, FL, as well as great grandchildren Fiona Cuomo of Tigard, OR, and John Faga of Boynton Beach, FL.

Marietta was devoted to her husband, family, and faith, and was deeply loved by all who knew her.

A private family Funeral Mass will be held at St. Jude Catholic Church in Boca Raton.
